web readiness checklist

We like a good list like most people! This one will help you determine if you're ready to get this thing going.

checkboxSite plan (Site Map)

This is a list of what pages or areas you are going to have on your site. You may decide to change or add things as you go along in the design process, but it gives us a place to start for the design process.

List of sites you like

The clearer you are about what you are looking for, the easier it is for the designer to give it to you. Take some time to look for websites that inspire you. Write down notes about what you like and don't like about each one.

Amazing Photos

You can take your own photos, hire a professional, or buy stock photography from a site like iStockphoto.com. Clear, well-lit photos are the best.

Snappy copy (Web site text)

Whether you write it yourself or hire a professional copywriter, your copy is an important component of your style. Be sure the writing is consistent and engaging. We recommend that you have some, if not all, of this copy ready prior to project start date. You can always add content to your Web site later, but it's better if you have content ready to go.

Logos & Graphics

If your company has a logo, we will need access to the original design file. Please make sure that you have these original files. It will make the design process a lot easier.

Web Hosting Provider

If you already have a hosting account, we will need to review the account settings to ensure compatibility. Click here to learn more about our favorite hosting service, Eleven2.com.

Domain name

Choose your domain name carefully to make sure it is memorable and easy to spell, especially when spoken over the phone. Avoid dashes or numbers if possible, as they require additional explanation (is that the number 3 or three spelled out?).

We recommend that you register your domain through a registrar like Eleven2.com or Dotster.com

NOTE: If you have already registered your domain name with another company, don’t worry. We will just need the company name you registered it with AND your username and password to login into the administrator area. This can be taken care of after the project has started.
